Saddlebreds Ride for the Cure

The UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show now offers Saddlebred enthusiasts and others the opportunity to raise funds for breast cancer research…right from the back of an American Saddlebred. “With your generous sponsorship and the support of Garden City Bank, an important tradition begins in 2007 -- a unique ‘Pink Ribbon’ class that not only honors or remembers those who have fought or succumbed to breast cancer, but also generates much-needed funds to find a cure for the disease,” said Ann Rowland, Chair of the UPHA American Royal National Championship Horse Show Committee.  Pink Ribbon Sponsorship Form>>  Pink Ribbon Program>>   Learn More>>

Saddlebred Horse Show

The Saddlebred originated in Colonial America. Traced to pre-Civil War times this was the preferred horse when families wanted a stylish harness horse that could both take them safely to church in a buggy and also carry the men across the fields to monitor their crops. Smooth gaits, plus speed were important. Today, the standard of excellence is beauty, symmetry and balance. The Saddlebred possesses animation, brilliance and extreme grace of movement. The Saddlebred is seen in Three Gaited classes, Five Gaited classes, Pleasure classes and Fine Harness classes.

American Royal is once again honored to be hosting the UPHA (United Professional Horseman’s Association) National Championship. The very best Saddlebreds from UPHA chapters from throughout the country will come to Kansas City to compete for more than $200,000 in prize money and the prestige of being national champions.

Be sure to attend The National Championship Stake Night, where the competition comes to an exciting climax as Grand Champions are crowned in 13 Classes.
