2018 American Royal World Series of Barbecue®

Open Contest:  Sunday, September 16, 2018
Invitational Contest:  Saturday, September 15, 2018

The World Series of Barbecue Open Competition is available to any team who can come down and show off their best barbecue skills! Teams compete in Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork (shoulder or Boston Butt) and Beef Brisket. In order to be eligible for Grand Champion, Open teams must turn in for all four categories.

Additionally, teams can compete in each category alone, a Sausage category, sides and/or desserts.

Registration

All teams must register online. Please be sure to read and review the team packet prior to registration. Additionally, below you will find links to order additional items for the event, a reference guide for first time teams, KCBS rules and regulations, information for the open meat auxiliary contests, and more!

The American Royal is excited to announce that this year, we will have the largest purse in the BBQ circuit. Please check back for more information about the increase in prize monies.

Important dates:

  • June 30, 2018 (11:59pm CST) - Returning Teams first right of refusal of prior years’ space (same space location and size).
  • August 1, 2018 - Late fee of $75 for teams who register starting August 1, 2018.
  • August 1, 2018 - Marquee Rentals (previously All Seasons) increase by 10%.
  • August 1, 2018 - Beverage Pre-order due through Americrown
  • August 15, 2018 - New registering teams deadline
    • Teams who register after this date (August 15, 2018) are subject to availability of space options, 3rd party rental options, electrical options, additional items for purchase, etc.
