Taste of KC Barbecue

New in 2017 – The American Royal World Series of Barbecue will host a tasting area to try Kansas City Barbecue!

The tasting area, presented by Samsung, will be open to all who purchase a passport and will give festival goers the opportunity to sample barbecue from some of the famous restaurants, caterers, and BBQ teams in Kansas City.

Smoke 'n Babes BBQ - Burnt Ends with Old Camp Whiskey BBQ Sauce, BBQ Sausage, and Cheesy Corn

 

Advance Ticket Price: $25 per Passport. Includes one 2 to 3 ounce portion taste per location within the area. One Passport typically serves two adults. Each location will make one item, not a full menu. Cost does not include entry into the event - additional ticket required. Bar will be located within the tasting area. Drinks not included in the cost of the passport.

Tickets

Passports will be available for pick up at a check in booth near the tasting area. This will be located on Pit Road, just South of the main stage. Passports will be available for pick up during the Samsung Taste of KC Barbecue open hours.

Samsung Taste of KC Barbecue Open Hours:

Friday, September 1, 2017: 4pm - 10pm
Saturday, September 2, 2017: 11am - 3pm and 5pm - 9pm.

Throughout the weekend, teams are competing in either the open and/or invitational contest to be named the Grand Champion. Teams will not have samples available for the general public.

Food Vendors

In addition to the Taste of KC Barbecue, there will be multiple food vendors offering a variety of delicious food options. Participating food vendors to date include:

  • Nothing Bundt Cakes - An assortment of 4" miniature bundt cakes (bundtlets) in pre-packed air tight containers, topped with their signature cream cheese based frosting.
  • Cooking Crew - Catfish, Pulled pork, Fresh Cut Fries, Soft tacos, Taco basket, Baby Back ribs, Baked Beans, Cole slaw, Corn dogs, and snow cones.
  • KC Smashers - Fresh squeezed Lemonade and several different seasonal fresh fruit flavors.
  • Indios Carbonsitos - Mexican style BBQ as well as traditional KC style BBQ with their Mexi-Q twist. http://www.mexi-qtruck.com/

  • Polar Oasis - Sundaes, Scooped Ice Cream, Shaved Ice with a self-serve flavor station, Floats-Root Beer and Dr. Pepper, Frozen Ice Cream Novelties, Sorbets, and Fresh Squeezed Lemonade. https://www.polaroasiskc.com/
  • BBQ Smokehouse - Kansas City Style Smoked Brisket, Tri-Tip, Ribs, Chicken, and Sausage. Cajun Style Side Dishes, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, Baked Beans, Collard Greens, and Mac & Cheese. All served with bread, pickles, and grilled onions/peppers.
  • The Big Cheese - Deep fried cheese curds, chicken tenders, fries, onion rings, shakes/malts, and root beer floats.
  • Greg-Co BBQ LLC - Sandwiches: Pulled pork - Brisket - Pork and brisket combo. BBQ Nachos, Walking Taco with Smoked Mac 'n Cheese.
  • Sugar Baby's Sweets - Ice cream, cupcakes, and funnel cakes.
