Sauce Contest

Does your barbecue sauce have what it takes to become the “Best Sauce on the Planet”? Prove it by entering the largest barbecue sauce competition in the world, the 30th Annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue® Sauce Contest.  Online registration is now open.  Sauce submissions must be received by April 28, 2017.  Judging will take place on May 7, 2017.

Who COMPETES?

Sauce is sent to the American Royal from all over the world to compete in the “Best Sauce on the Planet” Competition! This contest is open to any company who provides a retail sauce.

What's THE PROCESS?

There are five categories in the sauce contest: Mild Tomato, Hot Tomato, Vinegar, Mustard and Specialty.

What's THE PRIZE?

The top three winners of each category receive prize monies and ribbons. The winner of the Best Sauce on the Planet receives the legendary award along with an invitation to attend the World Series of Barbecue®

The 29th Annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue® Sauce Contest was not only the largest sauce contest we have ever held, but again the largest barbecue sauce contest in the world! With 450 different barbecue sauces coming in from 36 states and 3 countries, the 2016 class of barbecue sauces was truly the most competitive yet.
