The American Royal Parade scheduled for Saturday, September 28 has been cancelled because of expected severe weather.
Due to the size of the Parade it will not be rescheduled for 2013. We regret having to make this decision, but feel it is in the best interest for the safety of our participants and spectators. The American Royal ProRodeo will continue as scheduled with performances on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the American Royal Complex. Please refer to www.americanroyal.com for further information.
The American Royal Parade:
A Star Spangled Salute
Bring your friends, family and neighbors as we grow our tradition of paying tribute to America's Military at the American Royal's 88th Annual Parade on Saturday, September 28. Beginning at 9:45 a.m., the Parade will again travel north up Grand Boulevard from Pershing to Truman Road.
Last year's Parade was one of the largest in recent memory and certainly the largest in the Midwest region honoring our military veterans. Building on this momentum, plans for the 2013 parade are even bigger and more exciting.
There will be close to 4,000 people marching in the parade including active duty military, veterans from every conflict, 2,000 Boy Scouts, Combines and tractors, 4H and FFA youngsters, some of Kansas City's best marching bands and drill teams, saddle clubs, vintage cars, civic groups and decked-out parade floats. Many of the floats celebrate the parade’s agriculture theme, honoring The American Royal’s commitment to fostering the development of young Americans in a wide variety of agricultural fields.
Tens of thousands of Kansas Citians lined Grand Boulevard last year and the collective “Thank You” could be heard for miles around!
Spend Saturday morning September 28th with the men, women and families who keep America free as Kansas City’s largest Parade in their honor marches by. This is a unique event not to be missed.
We are grateful to the Commemorative Air Force, Heart of America Wing for supporting the American Royal: Star Spangled Salute Parade by performing a formation flyover Saturday September 28 at 10:00AM straight up Grand Boulevard.
We also suggest you visit their web site to learn more about them: www.kcghostsquadron.org. And we look forward to seeing you at their Air Expo on August 24th and 25th at New Century AirCenter, Gardner, KS. Join over 10,000 people at one of the most extraordinary, one of a kind displays of aircraft from WWII and Korea. Get an up-close view of these planes on the ground and watch as they take off and perform overhead: B-29 Superfortress, B-24 Liberator, P-51 Mustang, T-6 Texan, and many more.
