Vet Scholars

The American Royal’s nationally recognized livestock show offers veterinary students the unique opportunity to work alongside veteran veterinary practitioners providing care to some of the nation’s highest quality animals and exhibitors. Student scholars check health certificates, evaluate animals for infectious, contagious, or communicable diseases, and evaluate sick or injured animals during the show. Veterinary scholars also benefit from mentoring and networking with other veterinarians, livestock breeders, and exhibitors, which is critical to scholars professional development. Veterinary students from Kansas State University and University of Missouri are chosen through an application process through their respective schools. Students at Kansas State University must be 4th year veterinary students. Students at the University of Missouri must be 3rd or 4th year veterinary students.

Veterinary Scholars will attend two weeks of the American Royal Livestock show. Lodging, Travel and Meals will be paid for by the American Royal. Dates are as follows:

    • Livestock Show Round 1- Tuesday, October 11 to Sunday, October 16
