Open Meats Contest: Sunday, October 2, 2022**

Open Sides Contest: Saturday, October 1, 2022

The Open Competition is open to ALL TEAMS! No invite required to join. The Open Competition during the World Series of Barbecue is the largest Contest in the world with close to 500 teams competing each year!

Teams compete in Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork (shoulder or Boston Butt) and Beef Brisket. In order to be eligible for Grand Champion, Open teams must turn in for all four categories. Additionally, teams can compete in each category alone, a Sausage category, sides and/or desserts.

The Invitational Contest is invite only.  Teams qualified for the Invitational in 2019 – 2022 (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2022) will be automatically eligible for to compete in the Invitational Contest.

Returning Teams from 2021 – First Right of Refusal Deadline for Space: June 30, 2022

**Any team/group that wants to participate in the World Series of Barbecue must compete in the Open Meats Contest.
