FIRST YEAR IS A SUCCESS!

NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS PROGRAM

NEIGHBORHOOD SCHOOLS PROGRAM

The Neighborhood Schools Program allows us to partner with four local schools to provide agriculture education. In 2015, the four pilot schools included – Allen Village, Crossroads Academy, Gordon Parks, and Rosehill Elementary.

The first event students attended through the program was our CALF Days event in June. During the fall, the students enjoyed a school assembly from our rope-spinning cowboy humorist, Sheriff Terry, prior to attending School Tours and Youth Rodeo. In the spring we partnered with Missouri Farm Bureau and presented Ag in the Classroom curriculum at each school.

Looking back on our first year of the program, it is fun to see how each school customized the program to fit the needs of their students. At Rosehill Elementary, students Skyped with a farmer. Rosehill attended the Hunter/Jumper Horse Show, and visited with the equine veterinarians. Allen Village used CALF Days as part of their summer school curriculum.

Planning for the 2016-17 school year is currently underway. We are excited to partner with these incredible, local schools to provide agriculture education opportunities.
