UPHA The American Royal National Championship
November 17 - 21, 2009
The Saddlebred originated in Colonial America. Traced to pre-Civil War times this was the preferred horse when families wanted a stylish harness horse that could both take them safely to church in a buggy and also carry the men across the fields to monitor their crops. Smooth gaits, plus speed were important. Today, the standard of excellence is beauty, symmetry and balance. The Saddlebred possesses animation, brilliance and extreme grace of movement. The Saddlebred is seen in Three Gaited classes, Five Gaited classes, Pleasure classes and Fine Harness classes. Learn More>>
