The American Royal Chairman’s Club is a group of emerging, Kansas City based professionals with high potential for success in their chosen field. These individuals exhibit their passion for community involvement and interaction by serving as ambassadors and leaders for the American Royal and promoting our mission.
The program was created with the intent that members will invest in the future of Kansas City, support the American Royal’s mission to be the Nation's leader for food and agriculture education, events and engagement. Currently, the Chairman’s Club has around 50 members and meets almost monthly. Members of the Chairman's Club have the opportunity to participate in exclusive tours or presentations and meet with leaders of some of Kansas City's most exclusive companies and organizations. These opportunities give members insight into their own career paths and leadership styles.
Additionally, the group is responsible for Governor recruitment and supporting the American Royal through volunteerism and leadership. They host Governor recruiting events Royal After Hours and Uptown Hoedown each year. These events help introduce the Royal to a new group of people without traditional ties to agriculture.

Chairman’s Club members come from a broad section of business, civic, and social circles and act as ambassadors for the American Royal in their respective industries. Members are typically under the age of 40, and have some familiarity with the American Royal’s mission and purpose to provide opportunities for agricultural competitive learning, educational experiences, and scholarships that inspire and cultivate dreams. Members must be or become Governors during their tenure in the club and volunteer during the season. Membership is limited to approximately 50 members at any given time.
Interested candidates can apply by submitting an online application, including a resume. The application period for 2023 is December 1-31, 2022.
Major requirements of membership: Become a Governor of the American Royal, attend most Chairman’s Club monthly events, volunteer two shifts, and promote the Royal positively. New members are required to attend American Royal 101 the week of February 20-24 for on-boarding and to learn about the Royal and the Chairman’s Club. Applications will close December 31, 2022.
The Chairman’s Club leadership team, American Royal Advisor, American Royal Representative, and President and CEO will review prospective member submissions. If your application is considered for membership, a Chairman’s Club member will contact you to meet and discuss the commitment in more detail and answer any questions.
Prospective members will be notified of decision by early February. Member orientation will occur the week of February 20-24, 2023.
