In times of such uncertainty, the American Royal has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Pro Rodeo, scheduled for September 25-26.

The health and safety of Kansas City is our top priority and after exploring all possible options to make the rodeo safe and financially responsible for our not-for-profit organization, the American Royal team has determined holding the Pro Rodeo this year is not viable. This was not the outcome we had hoped for, but firmly believe this is the right decision for the long term success of the American Royal Pro Rodeo and the safety of our community.

We send our sincere apologies to the rodeo community, contestants, volunteers, and fans that have made our event so great over the past 70 years. We look forward to welcoming you back to the 2021 American Royal Pro Rodeo, scheduled for September 24-25.

Who COMPETES?

The American Royal ProRodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA). Members of these associations can compete in the rodeo by entering.

What's THE PROCESS?

The PRCA and WPRA rodeo seasons begin on October 1 and end September 30 annually. Cowboys and cowgirls are trying to make it to the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) held in Las Vegas based off of the money they have earned during the season. This makes the American Royal ProRodeo one of the last rodeos and chances of the season.

What's THE PRIZE?

$40,000 is up for grabs at this one up, two day rodeo! $5,000 will be awarded in each event.
