Welcome to the American Royal Virtual Field Trip!
Perhaps you have joined us at the American Royal Complex in the past to experience agriculture education, hands on learning, and watched the Youth Rodeo, or maybe you are new to the American Royal - either way, we are happy you are here and ready to experience food and agriculture in a whole new way.
What can you expect from the virtual American Royal Virtual Field Trip?
Our collection of nine agricultural session plans include topics such as a trip to the dairy, a ride in the combine during corn harvest, visiting the cutest Barnyard Babies, shopping on a budget at the UMB grocery store and much more!
Each lesson includes:
- Welcome and pre-lessons- Sheriff Terry will welcome you and your students to each Field Trip topic followed by a Royal Scholar pre-lesson video reviewing the learning objectives for the topic.
-
Virtual tours - each topic will have a guided virtual tour of production agriculture, innovation and technology, or the food system.
-
Lesson plans and activities- our team will provide you with lesson plans and video demonstrations for activities you can do with your students in your classroom or at home.
-
Royal Reading List - want to continue learning about a topic? Check out our list of books related to our food, animal or agriculture topics.
-
Quick quiz- to finish up each topic, you will be asked to complete a short quiz to assess your interest in the topic. We want to know what your students learned!
You may traverse these topics at your own pace and in the order you choose. Explore the topic in as great of depth as you and your students like. The virtual fields trips are offered free of charge to teachers and parents thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and partners.
We will also promote special sessions for interactive sessions with veterinarians, farmers, and others in the food and agriculture space. Watch for these special events and sign up to participate!
