Today, there were breed and market cattle shown at the 2017 American Royal. The Salers and Optimizer cattle were one of the breeds exhibited. Dr. Dave Nichols evaluated the cattle and noted their quality despite the small numbers.

In the Optimizer Heifer Show, Landon Liebhart, Missouri, exhibited the Champion Heifer and Silver Spur Salers, Missouri, showed the Reserve Champion Heifer. The Optimizer Bull Show followed the heifers. Taylor Goering, Kansas, exhibited the Champion Optimizer Bull and Silver Spur Salers, Missouri, showed the Reserve Optimizer Bull.

After the Optimizer show, the Salers Heifer and Bull Show took place. Taylor Goering, Kansas, exhibited the Champion Heifer and T Bone Cattle Company, Iowa, showed the Reserve Champion Heifer. In the Bull Show, Taylor Goering, Kansas, had the Champion Saler Bull and White Oak Salers, Iowa, exhibited the Reserve Saler Bull.
