American Royal Junior Simmental Show draws crowd

KANSAS CITY – Simmental youth from 12 states competed in the American Royal Junior Simmental Purebred and Percentage Shows on Oct. 30, in Kansas City, Mo. Mark Ebling of Cleburne, Texas, evaluated the entries.

Percentage Simmental Females
The Overall Grand Champion Percentage Heifer in the junior show was Daines Zenyatia 32X, a March 13, 2010 heifer exhibited by McKenzie Strickland of Shawnee, Okla. This entry was first named Champion Percentage Senior Heifer. Strickland also exhibited the Overall Reserve Champion Percentage Heifer, OBCC Black Cap 15NX. This Oct. 10, 2010 heifer was first named Champion Percentage Senior Heifer Calf.

The Champion Percentage Junior Heifer Calf honors were presented to Kriegers Show Bling Y144. This April 16, 2011 calf was exhibited by Anna Krieger of Universal, Ind. The Reserve Champion Percentage Junior Heifer Calf, VSCC BR Brandy 415Y, is an April 15, 2011 calf. She was shown by Tierra Vigil of Stillwater, Okla.

The Reserve Champion Percentage Senior Heifer Calf was GILLIG Gypsy Dream X1, a Sept. 2, 2010 calf owned by Joel Butler of Republic, Mo.

RGRS Xclamation 4X was named the Champion Percentage Junior Heifer. This April 2, 2010 female was exhibited by Connor Rogers of Elk City, Okla. The Reserve Champion Percentage Junior Heifer was Drake Blog X3, a May 10, 2010 heifer shown by Brady Hawkins of Centerville, Iowa.

The Reserve Champion Percentage Senior Heifer was Sweeney Cow X001, a Jan. 5, 2010 female shown by Jordan Crall of Albia, Iowa.

Purebred Simmental Females
The Overall Champion Purebred Heifer was Brooks Steel Magnolia X57, owned by Jake Bloomberg of Berwick, Ill. This April 10, 2010 heifer was first recognized as Champion Purebred Junior Heifer. HALLS Black Star X03 was named the Overall Reserve Champion Purebred Heifer and Champion Purebred Senior Heifer. This Jan. 4, 2010 female was exhibited by Zachariah Henthorn, of Fleming, Ohio.

The Champion Purebred Junior Heifer Calf was Thills Yancy 44XY, a Jan. 3, 2011 female exhibited by Madyson Thill of Pleasantville, Iowa. Anna Krieger of Universal, Ind., led the Reserve Champion Purebred Junior Heifer Calf, Kriegers Doing Time Y101. She is a Jan. 1, 2011 calf.

GCF Miss Sugar and Spice, was named the Champion Purebred Senior Heifer Calf. She is a Sept. 9, 2010 heifer exhibited by Max Kaplan of Sturgeon, Mo. The Reserve Champion Purebred Senior Heifer Calf was SVF Cottontail X512, exhibited by Katlyn Ruth of Iowa City, Iowa. She was born Sept. 3, 2010.

The Reserve Champion Purebred Junior Heifer was WAGR Christie Lee 021X, shown by Abby Long of Wynnewood, Okla. She is a May 14, 2010 female.

The Reserve Champion Purebred Senior Heifer, Lazy H Takin Chances, is a Feb. 21, 2010 heifer shown by Henthorn.
