KANSAS CITY – Simmental breeders from 13 states competed in the American Royal Open Percentage and Purebred Simmental Show on Oct. 30. Scott Schaake of Manhattan, Kan., evaluated the participants.

Percentage Simmental Females
The Overall Grand Champion Percentage Heifer was Daines Zenyatia 32X. This March 13, 2010 female was exhibited by McKenzie Strickland of Shawnee, Okla. She was first named Champion Percentage Junior Heifer. Connor Rogers of Elk City, Okla., exhibited the Overall Reserve Champion Percentage Heifer, RGRS Xclamation 4X, born April 2, 2010. She was first named Reserve Champion Percentage Junior Heifer.

The Champion Percentage Junior Heifer Calf was GFC Miss Joy Y36, born Feb. 14, 2011. She is owned by Grindstone Creek Farms of Sturgeon, Mo. Goretska Cattle Company of Corydon, Iowa, exhibited the Reserve Champion Percentage Junior Heifer Calf, TDGC Roxanne. She was born on March 22, 2011.

Partisover Witch147X, a Sept. 8, 2010 heifer owned by Hartman Cattle Company of Tecumseh, Neb., was selected as the Grand Champion Percentage Senior Heifer Calf. Stickland also exhibited the Reserve Champion Percentage Senior Heifer Calf. OBCC Black Cap 15NX was born Oct. 1, 2010.

Allie Standridge of Lindsay, Okla., exhibited the Champion Percentage Senior Heifer. Her heifer, RWA Electra-ET, was born Jan. 28, 2010. Winning reserve champion in the same division was MS NB 360 Katy 1X. This heifer, born Feb. 24, 2010, is owned by Mitchell Udell of Sioux City, Iowa.

Simmental Females
Hartman/Goddard of Tecumseh, Neb., exhibited the Grand Champion Purebred Simmental Heifer. Their entry, SWC SVF Xavier 903X, was born on Nov. 8, 2010. She was first chosen as Champion Purebred Senior Heifer Calf. The Reserve Champion Purebred  Simmental Heifer was SVF Cottontail X512. This heifer, born on Sept. 4, 2010, is owned by Katlyn Ruth of Iowa City, Iowa. She was first named Reserve Champion Purebred Senior Heifer Calf.

The Champion Purebred Spring Heifer Calf was JF Ebony’s Joy 1255Y, owned by Janssen Farms of Gilmore City, Iowa. She was born April 12, 2011. SVJ Farm of Amity, Pa., led SVJ She’s the Dream Y728 to reserve champion honors in the same division. She was born April 19, 2011.

GCF Miss No Doubt Y20, a Feb. 1, 2011 female, was led by Grindstone Creek Farms of Sturgeon, Mo., to the title of Champion Purebred Junior Heifer Calf. Reserve Champion Purebred Junior Heifer Calf, LTS Stiletto, was exhibited by Jeff Thompson of Lone Tree, Iowa. She was born on Feb. 3, 2011.

Brooks Steel Magnolia X57 was exhibited by Jake Bloomberg of Berwick, Ill., and named Champion Purebred Junior Heifer. She was born on April 10, 2010. Macy Griswold of Stillwater, Okla., exhibited the Reserve Grand Champion Junior Heifer. Her heifer, OBCC Sadies Girl RT0X, was born on March 5, 2010.

The Champion Purebred Senior Heifer, Halls Black Star X03, was born on Jan. 4, 2010. She was exhibited by Zachariah Henthorn of Fleming, Ohio. Tyler Long of Creston, Iowa, exhibited reserve champion in the same division, Long’s Foxy Lady. She was born Feb. 24, 2010.
